In a groundbreaking joint effort, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) formerly known as NHIS, and the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) came together to conduct a highly informative sensitisation program for NOUN staff members.
The program, held at the NOUN Lagos office on July 24, 2023, aimed to familiarize university staff with the comprehensive benefits of the health insurance scheme. Through this initiative, they were equipped with essential knowledge on accessing quality healthcare and gaining a thorough understanding of NHIA's operations.
During the 1-day event, representatives from the federal healthcare provider were on hand to address queries and address concerns related to payment plans, coverage options, and the selection of hospitals, among other vital aspects of the insurance scheme.
The presence of NHIA served as a valuable opportunity for NOUN staff to seek assistance with enrollment and gain valuable insights into primary healthcare providers.
Key attendees at the sensitisation exercise included the Director of the Lagos Study Centre and the principal officers from the Lagos, Apapa, and Mushin Study Centres.
This joint venture between NHIA and NOUN has proven to be a significant step towards enhancing healthcare access and awareness among university staff. By working together, they have empowered NOUN staff to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. This valuable collaboration sets a precedent for future partnerships that can positively impact the Nigerian healthcare landscape.
