The construction works for the building of the Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning’s (ACETEL) permanent site is presently ongoing at the university headquarters in Abuja.
The building project is part of requirements of the World Bank, as the major sponsor of the ACETEL project, to put up a smart building structure for the centre.
ACETEL director, Prof. Grace Jokthan, in an interview, said it is imperative to let the university community know that the construction is ongoing.
“Construction is ongoing and it is progressing steadily and going by the pace of the work we are hoping that we will meet the time line for the building,” she said.
The Procurement Officer of the World Bank, Mr. Ifeanacho Okoye, visited the building site to inspect the ongoing project, and expressed satisfaction on the quality of the work.
He emphasised on the need for the contractors to speed up the work in order to complete the project in due time.
The building will consist of different offices including a central library of 73 sitting capacity and a theatre for conferences and events with a minimum capacity of 100, among others.
